Continental plans to hire another 1500 employees in the near future
The German Group Continental, that invested 830 million Euro in Romania, has reached a number of seven factories of auto parts and three development centers with a total of approximately 13,000 employees in our country and plans to increase the staff figures from up to 1500 new employees this year. Almost half of the workforce will be recruited in order to fill in positions for the company’s new research and development center in Sibiu.
As per Lacramioara Daraban, HR manager at Continental Automotive Systems Sibiu, the company will became the largest employer in the region. In Sibiu, Continental will reach a number of 4000 employees, compared to 2800 they have at present. 1500 of them will be engineers, and will work side by side with 800 people already hired on this area of expertise.
The University of Sibiu plays a very important part in the recruitment process as well, as many of the new employees are trained for the jobs they will perform from at an early age, gathering experience even before graduation.
“The largest percentage of people recruited comes directly from Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu. The company rises and relays on the new generations of well-trained students, therefore the recruitment process does not affect other companies in the area. Half of the employees come from Sibiu, and the other half from the cities nearby. At the same time, many of them study in Sibiu and have plans not to leave the city in the near future. We also have new employees that come from Cluj Napoca or Iasi” – Lacramioara Daraban added.
