The American software provider Oracle is currently planning to invest approximately 100 million EUR in Romania according to the Minister for Infrastructure Projects of National Interest and Investment, Dan Sova.
“This represents a new investment.It regards a new expansion of Oracle’s existing capacities,and the amount reaches 100 million EUR “ Dan Sova explained .
When asked if the Romanian investment relies on call centers and outsourcing business the response was affirmative. The American multinational company had reached a business of over 100 million EUR in Romania in 2011 as well, representing the biggest amount spent locally by a software enterprise .
Prime minister , Victor Ponta , and Dan Nica ( minister of the Information Society ) have met on the 22nd of April at the Victoria Palace with Safra Catz, co-president of Oracle Corporation, and Sorin Mandrutescu, general director of Oracle Romania.
The US Oracle representative explained during the meeting , that the local branch reached 2,500 employees, and the company will continue to develop its presence in Romania( according to data announced by the Government )
“There are still discussions to be held with the investors.We are referring here to the big investment done at Turceni by the Chinese , which reaches 1 billion EUR .With the same amount of 1 billion EUR we also have an investment done by OMV and Exxon.” Dan Sova added.
Asked if there will be other investments in the car segment ,in addition to the one already announced by the German group , Daimler , the minister said that there is a possibility but refused to provide further details.
