San Miguel Philippine outsources desktop management to IBM
The last few quarter showed little growth for IMB Corporation, but the tide could change now that the American giant received a helping hand from San Miguel Pure Foods Company Inc., one of the Philippines’ largest manufacturers of processed meat products.
The two companies have signed a 5 year agreement that turns over desktop management to IBM. The tech company will be responsible for deploying, maintaining and tracking hardware and providing users with helpdesk and onsite support.
The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
Following a thorough investigation, the Asian company decided to outsource its desktop management in order to put more attention to its core business.
“With IBM managing our IT support nationwide, we will be able to better focus on our short and long term growth objectives,” SMPFC President Francisco S. Alejo III said in a statement.
This is not the only company that works with IBM in the same manner, or outsourced several functions that relate to desktop management to the American enterprise. We can also list Hewlett-Packard, Xerox, Dell, and offshore providers Wipro and HCL Technologies.
As said above, this deal could help IBM as their revenue has fallen for six straight quarters, due mostly to slow demand for computer hardware. Revenue from IBM’s hardware unit fell 19% in the third quarter as many customers opted for cloud-based computing systems. Fingers crossed!
