A new Engineering Competence Centre opened by Thales in Bucharest
Thales Group, a multinational company that designs and builds electrical systems and provides services for the aerospace, defence, transportation and security markets, opened its newest Engineering Competence Centre (ECC) in Bucharest last week. This strategic decision helps the company to reinforce its strong position on the market, both in Romania and worldwide.
The Group’s choice to site its Engineering Competence Centre in Bucarest was driven by the large pool of highly skilled qualified engineers the city boasts. Therefore, the company aims to leverage the skills and competencies of local engineers and technical specialists, who will help to deliver solutions that develop civil and defence activities, serving the company’s global needs. Thales has an ambition to grow the centre and to contribute to job creation and skills development in Romania. The company plans to exceed 1000 people employed in the ECC by the end of 2021.
Thales Group, headquartered in La Défense, France, has been present in Romania as a supplier for over 40 years, working with the Romanian armed forces. In 2007, the company decided to develop its industrial operations in Romania, and has, since then, embarked on a development journey, expanding its team of software research and development to address railway transportation needs.
